It is rare for a women to be directing a movie and more so in Tollywood.Barring Vijaya Nirmala, B Jaya and Jeevita Rajasekhar, not many women dared venture into film direction, predominantly considered a male bastion.

Nandini Reddy who is now coming up with 'Ala Modhalaindi' starring Nani and Nitya Menon seems to be breaking the mould. After working as an assistant director for over 15 films with maverick film makers like Krishna Vamsi, Nandini is now all set to debut as a director.

A student of International Politics from JNU-New Delhi, Nandini even worked as RJ in World Space radio station for a long time. While the other three lady directors had influential husbands who supported them, Nandini is still a spinster and the face of confident modern woman.

Though she admits that heroes are yet to believe in women directors, she is sure she will make it big if given a chance.

"Directors like Farah Khan are making mainstream commercial cinema like Om Shanti and Tees Maar Khan in Hindi. Such people are changing the notions that women can't make mass commercial movies. Given a chance, I will do the same too" Nandini quips. It is indeed refreshing change to see a young modern woman in Tollywood all set to let her movie take over the box office next week.
