Fiat 1100 Delight, or the quite Indianised Premier Padmini, was a rage back in the late 70s and early 80s, strutting the streets with pride. The car is a matter of amour-propre for a particular Pannaiyaar too, and based on this, comes out Arun Kumar's film, 'Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum'. Starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, with Jayaprakash as the Pannaiyaar and Sneha as his daughter, the film has Iyshwarya Rajesh as the heroine and also 'Attakathi' Dinesh in a cameo appearance.

Looks like the speculation is not only from Tamils, but Tollywood actor Nani also seems interested in the film, so much so that he has bought the copyrights of 'Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum' from Magicbox Films; Nani is said to have plans of remaking the film for the Telugu audience, and he himself will don the lead role in the Tollywood version. Canned by Gokul Benoy and produced by MR Ganesh, 'Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum' has music by Justin Prabhakaran, and the album will be launched in all grandeur this month. Apart from the audio release, the team is planning for an impressive road show, which will see two Padminis travelling the length and breadth of Tamil Nadu, halting at each big city, reprising the local ethnicity and traditional values. The two cars will be finally received in Chennai by the 'Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum' crew, offering a warm welcome. The film is currently into post production work, and will hit the screens soon. Looks like Padmini will strut the streets of Andhra too, very soon.
