Prakash Raj, who has carved a niche for himself through versatile roles proved his talent once again as a poor weaver in ‘Kanchivaram’. Director Priyadarshan known for his commercial entertainers directed this offbeat entertainer. ‘Kanchivaram’ is a serious film, which is about the sufferings of silk weavers in Kanchivaram. The movie is set in 1952 and is based on the struggles that happened then among the weavers.

Through the movie, Prakash Raj brought out all his troubled emotions comfortably on screen. Be it showing love towards his wife or caring for his daughter, he is right there delivering it all effortlessly.

Prakash Raj is not just a gifted actor but also a good person at heart. He worked ‘Kanchivaram’ without demanding a payment as it dealt with the life of poor weavers. He wanted to help in pulling their miserable life into the limelight. It’s heard that he donated computers for the night schools of Kanchivaram’ as the children work in the day while they go to school in the evening.

Prakash Raj’s superlative act and Priyadarshan’s touchy screenplay made up the movie. ‘Kanchivaram’ is one the most influential movie out of the films that released last year. It makes us to strongly feel that both the film and Prakash Raj’s acting deserves a National award.

Let’s wait for the official announcements to see if this novel project and this talented actor wins the award!
