In May 2010, actor Navdeep made news for mixing drinking and rash driving. When the police, headed by the ACP of Banjara Hills tried to stop him, he reportedly misbehaved with them. Following this, some cases were slapped against him under different sections.

The Nampally 3rd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has, in this case, adjudged that the actor should pay Rs. 8,000 as fine, failing which he will have to undergo ordinary imprisonment for 3 months. The actor was convicted on charges under sections 279 (rash driving), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of duty) of IPC, and sections of Motor Vehicles Act.

The actor's counsel has declared that he will file an appeal against the conviction.
