It seems to be a time for newcomers! They are now making their talents been felt in the Malayalam film music industry. In a surprising development, more than a dozen films in the making feature new lyric writers and musicians in their music department.

It all started with the massive success of the music of 'Arabikkatha' with the debutante Anil Panachooran and Biji Bal bringing up some exceptional hits. One of the song from the film 'Thirike' still holds its place in the top of the charts even after the film completing its 100th day.The duo is presently giving music to Mammootty’s 'Nasraani'.

The biggest news in the trade is rerecoding specialist Gopi Sunder (of Big B and Note book fame) is turning to music direction with the new Mohanlal film 'Flash'. The film will have lyrics by Rafiq Ahamed who had also penned a few for Mohanalal's 'Paradesy'.

In the new film 'Kangaroo' , director Raj Babu is giving chances to two new debutantes Saji Raam in music and Biju Kaippadan in lyrics. Some of the names who are debuting in music direction with the ongoing projects are Shamesh ( Ormakurippu), Musaq (Trap) and Sumesh Kuttikkal (singer Boy).

And the latest reports suggest the entry of two doctors into music direction. Dr C. V. Renjith has already released his songs that he did for the film titled 'Vrindaavanam' while Dr Muhammed Shakeel is the music director of the film 'Oridathoru Puzhayundu'. The gathering of new faces and talents is likely to give a fresh breath to the music trade of the state, which is already in a stagnant and pathetic state.
