Ace filmmaker Mahendran had a piece of advice to the young breed of directors at the audio launch of 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi', a film produced by Moser Baer and Blue Ocean Entertainment in Chennai on Monday.

"A director's identity lies in his screenplays and young directors should never compromise on it. Commercial elements may help a film at the box-office but such a success will be temporary. It wouldn't be a long- lasting one. Hence young directors should never forego their identities while making films," he said.

Explaining that each director had a distinct style of story-telling Mahendran asserted that screenplay was more important than the story itself.

In his address, director Balu Mahendra said that 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi' seemed to be true to the culture of the soil. "Such films which are faithful to the culture of their land should meet with success," Balu Mahendra said.

Film directors Ameer, Thangar Bachan, Sasikumar, Suseendran, Pandiraj, Vasanth, Perarasu, Mysskin, Parthiban, producer Dhananjayan, actors Jai, Bharath and Nandhini among others were present on the occasion.
