The latest about this Simbu starrer, 'Osthi', is that while its producers and STR's father Vijaya T Rajendar are taking their best efforts to release the film on October 8, some theatre owners are against the move, following their fall out with Sun Pictures.

Claiming that a false statement was sent to the media, which assured that the film would hit the screens as scheduled, Paneerselvam, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association said, "I would like to reiterate that our noncooperation with the channel (Sun TV) and films that have sold their satellite rights to them will continue until the channel settles their dues.”

Meanwhile, Prashanth's comeback movie 'Mambattiyan', directed and produced by his father Thiyagararajan, is also facing the same fate, as its satellite rights too were sold to Sun TV, it is said.

In the meantime, T Rajendar, who has acquired the release rights of 'Osthi', has requested Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to intervene and ensure that the film see the light of the day come Friday. "Individuals don't have the right to ban any film. I am planning to meet the CM in this regard soon," TR said.

However the makers, Reliance Entertainment have confirmed the release of the film on December 8 despite these issues and have assured the film will hit the screens on the given date. Are you all set to go ‘Osthi Maamey...' this December 8?
