When Roshan Abbas started working on 'Always Kabhi Kabhi', he was sure that for his teen campus musical entertainer, her wanted the focus to stays on the young characters enacted by Zoa Morani, Giselle Monteiro, Ali Fazal and Satyajit Dubey. This when he had Shahrukh Khan for a producer and if required, he could have reached out to him for a cameo, if not a special appearance, in the film.

Roshan doesn't deny though that having Shahrukh in the capacity of an actor did cross his mind. "There is an obious temptation to rope Shahrukh Khan as an actor when he is anyways there with you as a producer. However the more I thought of it, the more I felt that by playing any of these three roles, he would have been wasted."

Didn't he ever feel though that for a film centred on teenagers, he could have ensured added visibility for all involved had Shahrukh Khan too featured as an actor? After all he could have increased the role of a supporting actor and hence ensured that Shahrukh was present for much more than just 20 minutes.

"Well, that would have been unfair to the film," reasons Roshan, "Also, the entire focus would have shifted from the kids to Shahrukh. Remember 'Mohabbatein? Though there were six young actors in the film, the entire attention was always on Shahrukh. When you have someone of his stature in a film, the others are bound to get compared to him. That's not something that any of us wanted."
