Monica Dogra is the young woman who makes her debut opposite country's biggest brand today - Aamir Khan - when it comes to quality cinema.

Though no one considered 'Dhobi Ghat' as a quintessential launch pad for the debutant girl, one wonders whether Monica aspired for that brief pep talk or some usable acting tips from the perfectionist Khan before reporting on the sets of the film? After all some guidance towards approaching her part from the man himself would have just added on to her confidence, isn't it?

"No, there wasn't any special word that came from him before I started shooting for the film", says Monica, "He was my peer and colleague and that's about it. Also, I was told that I had to work on my part as just another human being without making any conscious effort to act per se. Since I am an NRI myself and play the part of one in the film, I could actually relate to it well."

Being an NRI, wasn't language an issue for her? Was she comfortable mouthing her lines in Hindi?

"This character actually speaks in Hindi as well as English", informs Monica, "In fact I have dubbed for Hindi lines too myself. I couldn't have afforded making mistakes with such a beautiful language, right?"

Directed by Kiran Rao, 'Dhobhi Ghat' releases all over on 21st January.
