With the ban issued on the release of 'Thalaivaa' in Tamil Nadu, it has become the second big film in the same year to garner the dubious distinction. The film was reported to be stalled for release, owing to security concerns, following bomb threats at theatres. After negotiation, yet another concern has been risen about the movie. The crew that approves every film for exemption from entertainment tax has suddenly disapproved the film.

After a special screening to crew, it has now been decided that the film will not be exempt from entertainment tax. But the film is titled in a pure Tamil word and when this query was raised as to why it is still attracting tax, the crew offered a new rule in explanation. According to the committee, Tamil title is only one of requisites, while there are a whole host of other reasons too, that might attract tax. All said and done, when will 'Thalaivaa' be unleashed in Chennai?
