Here is a youngster with substance. Debutant director TN Nagesh has worked hard on the novelty in presentation of his film `Olave Vismaya'. A good star cast especially versatile actor Ananthnag, lovely music and absorbing photography has lifted the level of this film but one question remains unanswered. When the lovers change their name and come on telephone do they not recognize the voices? In most of the cases the voice is easily recognizable. It is only in this area director Nagesh should have given a thought.
A talkative and intelligent Manu (Dharma Keerthiraj) living with his mother Bharathi and grand mother Goldie (played by Padmaja Rao and MN Lakshmi Devi) is an architect. He builds his love to arrogant Priya. Priya brought up under the tutelage of her discerning father Urs (Ananthnag) after a while falls in love with Manu. Both decide to meet at a spot and both meet with an accident.
Manu's leg is broken and Priya has lost her eyes. Both decide that out of sympathy they should not get married. Both do not express the losses in their life and the attitude of lovers at this time irks the elders. After some time Manu is Manoj Kumar an architect in Madikeri and Priya is Priyanka Urs living in Madikeri. Accidentally they come in contact over telephone and during the course of time they exchange their heart burns in life and fall in love. Both of them with an extension of their names do not recognize their voices over telephone at all.
Further the friends of Manu and Priya solve the misconception that both have not expressed their losses in life to the parents and it is time for reunion of the earlier lovers. What about the telephonic lovers Manojkumar and Priyanka Urs - the same lovers in new names? Director wants to keep the lovers in mystery!
As a full length hero Dharma Keerthiraj is convincing. He has the sweet looks (to some extent Ranbir Kapoor of Kannada cinema). In the dialogue delivery area, Dharma wins and he is still shy in romantic moments. Pratiba Rani looks short and she has struggled hard to stay in the limelight but the daughter role of Srinivas Prabhu in the office of protagonist is much better in looks. Spoorthi has a short role but she should improve a lot.
Versatile actor Ananthnag is the pinch hitter in this film for his protective nature and wonderful dialogues for him is the first attraction in the film. Padmaja Rao, MN Lakshmi Devi and Sudha Belawadi are very apt to their roles.
`Koncha Reshime Koncha Hunnime.' scored by Veer Samarth will be on top of the list for the melody. There are two other peppy songs from Veer Samarth. Guru Prashanth Rai's cinematography in the Coorg localities is another highlight of this film.
This is worth watching.
