S.P.B. Charan might never have imagined that the film that he was to produce would face so many hiccups. Directed by debutant Thiyagarajan Kumararaja the film sees Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff for the first time in Tamil. With a host of new faces the film is produced by S.P.B. Charan's Capital Film Works.

After three years of filming and fighting law suits for the movie the team is breathing a sigh of relief now as 'Aaranya Kaandam' is garnering positive reviews from overseas. The film won the Grand Jury award at the popular South Asian International Film Festival from New York recently. 'Aaranya Kaandam' was also released in English under the name 'Anima and Persona' there by reflecting the sheer content of the film.

After fighting a legal battle and ultimately winning it the film will be released in India under an A certificate. The censor board had removed something to the likes of 52 cuts from the film, say sources. The film portrays the primitive instinct of a male still dormant but none the less there, there by explaining the use of the name 'Aaranya Kaandam' from Ramayanam.

Moreover the trailers which have been released are attention grabbers. The director has beautifully narrated the teaser similar to that of a "Villupattu" we see in village temples narrating epics, foretelling the viewers on what is to come. If the ads could say anything about the creativity and novelty of Thiyagarajan Kumararaja's filming then we guess the interest to see 'Aaranya Kaandam' has just doubled just watching the ad!
