Perhaps inspired by ‘Pithamagan’, a new Tamil film is being made with burial ground as its backdrop. Titled ‘Veerasekaran’, the movie features art-director Veerasamar as the protagonist.

Directed by Navi Sathish Kumar, the movie has Prathap Pothen in an important role. Amala, a newcomer is the heroine. Music is by Sajan Madhav.

“The story begins and concludes at a burial ground. The hero spends all his time at the place which is almost like his second home. He draws his solace from the place of the dead,” says the filmmaker.

Saying that people discouraged him for setting the movie in a graveyard, Sathish Kumar adds he was however successful in his mission. “The story even has a romance blossoming between two people right among the dead. The scenes have shaped up to my satisfaction,” he says.

A former associate of director Manobala, the director adds, “Music by Sajjan Madhav is the backbone of the movie. All my lyricists including Priyan, Na Muthukumar have penned catchy lines for the tunes set by Madhav.”

On choosing Veerasamar for the role, he says, “he suited the role of a young man from a village who pursues his studies in Chennai with high hopes.”
