Shyju Anthikkad debuted into filmdom with the movie `Shakespeare MA, Malayalam'- a hilarious entertainer that he co-directed with Shaji. The movie which featured Jayasuriya and Kalabhavan Mani made a safe run in the Box Office, immediately brought in fresh projects for both the directors, who are turning independent with their fresh endeavors.

Shyju's first venture as an independent director is titled as `Oru Black And White Kudumbam' and features his favourites Jayasuriya and Kalabhavan Mani in the lead. Scripted by popular theatre persona Pradeep Kumar Kaavungal, the movie narrates the story about a close knit family that defied social norms to make a living for themselves.

The movie has Kalabhavan Mani as Antony, a hard working farmer who made a controversial marriage with the beautiful Lakshmi Thampuraatty(Vinaya Prasd), who hails from the prestigious Kovilakam family. Antony strived hard to provide better facilities for their only son -Antony Adithya Varma, who was a much fairer in complexion than his father. And the villages called them `Oru Balck And White Kudumbam' due to these extreme contrast in skin tones.

Adithya Varma and his family met with an untimely financial crisis, when he was planning to fly to Australia, after completing his M B A. And he is forced to join Minnu's business group, as a manager. Due to their difficult circumstances, ambitious Adithya also brings in his Father Antony and mother Lekshmi in various jobs in the company, without letting anyone know that they are his parents.

Minnu, the scion of the business group, is the boss of her household and the last word in every discussions relating to their family business. She falls for Aadithya, but as he had already brought in his parents as employees, Aadithya is now in a difficult situation to let her know that his parents are mere employees of her household. The crises test the ties of the B&W Kudumbam, which forms the crux of the movie.

Based on this humorous storyline and an array of comic characters played by Janardhanan, Suraj Venjaaramoodu, Biju Kuttan, Lalu Alex and Anoop Chandran,'Oru Black And White Kudumbam', promises to become an hilarious entertainer. Jibu Jacob handles the cinematography while Alex Paul is in charge of the music section.
