Kamal films has always contributed in excellence to Malayalam film music industry. His films always carried music stuff that lasted  for  longer times. Pachakuthira is also not an exception in its music, eventhough none of the tracks  will survive  time.

As the film is a soulful comedy involving  a mentally impaired peculiar character, some of the songs also carries the needed impetus. Penned by Girish Puthenchery according to the moods of the film, the lines are set to music by the legend Ilayaraja.

Raja saab as usual don't falter in providing non complicated soothing orchestration which is the highlights of the songs. The album carries four songs of the film and a karaoke track of the title song.

1. Butterfly, Butterfly...... This is the title track of the album, planned as the theme music of the rare second character  played by Dileep in the film. The song is a soft soothing melody rendered by Karthik and Bhavatharini. The singers had given necessary  cradle song feel to the vocalization, which is the beauty of the song. This is the song in the album that may become a chart entry. The song is also placed as a minus track for karaoke purposes.

2. Oru Thotta Vaadi..... This song is sung by Vijay Yesudas and Jyotsna. This is a foot tapping song, sung with energy, eventhough the singers voice appears to be a little husky immersed in equipments. Set to good orchestration, the song offers pleasant hearing

3. Varavelkkumo..... This is a romantic duet sung by Madhu Balakrishnan and Jyotsna. The song has some good lyrics and the singers had rendered it with even more harmony. It sometimes shows shades of the earlier super hit song of Ilayaraja 'Oru Chiri Kandaal' from Ponmudi Puzhayorathu. Overall another good song.

4 . Kali Konda Chaamundii........This is a racy number sung by M.G.Sreekumar. It has some leisurely lyrics provided for slapstick visuals.

Even though the songs are good, the chart topper melody number that appears in every Kamal movie is absent in this album. But it is not even a let down for a diehard Ilayaraja fan.
