Padmapriya is keen to establish herself as a top actress in Malayalam. Giving the likes of Kavya Madhavan, a run for their money, Padmapriya won the Asianet-Ujala award for best actress for her performance in Karutha Pakshikal.

Padmapriya had smeared dark makeup all over her to darken her complexion. She played the role of a young woman who grew up on the streets.

Padmapriya is now getting ready to explore the other side of her in Anandam. She plays an urban and a suave girl in Anandam. For the film, she had lost lot of weight. The film has a very lively rain-dance featuring her.
