The effervescence that the movie ‘Pattalam’ radiates is aptly captured in its single-word title. The story of how the crew zeroed in on this name is a fascinating one. “We did not randomly pick this word ‘Pattalam’,” begins director Rohan Krishna, who debuts on the big screen as a director through this movie.

The decision about the movie’s title was elaborately made, involving many people, beyond the movie’s cast and crew. “My assistant directors visited almost each and every school in Chennai looking for a title that would suit this fun-filled film. Students themselves were forthcoming and suggested names of which we thought Pattalam suited best, the nature of the movie,” explains director Rohan Krishna, whose wife Sheeba Rohan has penned the story.

The movie is produced by director Lingusamy’s brother, Subash Chandra Bose, under the banner of Thirupathy Brothers. The movie, which is a fun riot, consists of nine sprightly youngsters and the charming Nadiya along with them. Jassie Gift has scored the music while Krishnasamy cranks the camera.
