`Pattinte Palazhi' seems to be a movie that has gone by its name, filling its tracks with some great music. The debutant music director of the movie Dr. Suresh Manimala, has managed to use much of an unthinkable opportunity, by bringing in the likes of Hariharan and Usthad Faiz Khan for the lyrics by O N V Kurup.

With some touching melodies and exquisite orchestration, the music director acclaimed as the new sensation, is quite likely to inherit the mantle of the masters of yesteryears such as G. Devarajan, Dakshinamoorthy, Baburaj, K. Raghavan and Raveendran in the coming years. This seven song album based on the film about an aspiring singer has six songs by O N V while the seventh is a ghazal track composed by Urdu poet Momin Khan Momin in the 19th century. KS Chithra, who has sung 5 songs in the film, rates the songs in the film as excellent and very soulful.

1. Udhaya Suryane

Singer: K S Chithra

The opening song in the film, `Udhayasooryane' set in raga Abhogi in a pure Carnatic tradition sets the tone of the film. The orchestration holds a different touch altogether compared to the present trends. Dr. Suresh's selection of ragas and scales, change to Hindustani touches and intricate note combinations.

2. Ponnum Noolil

Singer: K S Chithra

This is one of the finest piece in the album that is sure to get the audience approval. Basically a lullaby sung excellently rendered by K S Chithra, the song may be good addition to the list of the best from the singer.

3. Pattu Paduvan

Singer: Hariharan

A characteristic melancholic melody, the song is also noted for its excellent rendering by Hariharan. A soft and supple emotional number, the talented veteran's brilliant command over modulations and variations that merges with the brilliant arrangements of track is very visible.

4. Asar Usko

Singer: K S Chithra

This is the first official Urdu ghazal in Malayalam film. A soft number again sung to perfection by Chithra

5. Ammakkuruvee

Singers: Aparna and Chithra

This is another soft number, almost like a lullaby. This is also one of the lightest compositions in the album in terms of orchestrations and lyrics. Both the signers have complemented each other to make this song, a good one for ears.

6. Satha Thanthriyakum

Singer: K S Chithra

Another good recital from K S Chithra, the music director with his mastery over in classical and carnatic music, makes a lovely fusion of instruments. This is a perfect song for those who love Classical music with a contemporary touch, as the singer takes big strides in perfecting a demanding, complex composition. The lyrics of the song with some strong literary usages are also lovable for those who demand great meanings in movie lyrics. The song will be a string contender for the next year's music awards.

7. Oru Malar Manchalumay

Singers: Shwetha Menon and Vijay Yesudas

A soulful duet  by Shwetha Menon and Vijay Yesudas, in fact the only duet in the album. This is a good mix of catchy rhythms and interesting instrumentation. This smooth flowing song is an enjoyable number that has lively musical score combined with grace and charm of the singers.

Ustad Faiyaz Khan chips in with his melodious and striking alaps in the finale of this music album.

Dr. Suresh Manimala, a Management Professional and Media specialist by profession sees his break in the film industry as "a passionate pursuance of childhood dreams". Well equipped with training in Hindustani, Carnatic music traditions and an ear to all good music streams of the world, Dr. Suresh has a few albums to his credit as lyricist too, in his earlier days!

With 7 songs in `Pattinte Palazhi', directed by Rajiv Anchal and noted by the return of Meera Jasmine, Suresh has already ensured an enviable position for a debutant in the industry. In the first week of insertion itself, the song `Ponnum Noolil', sung by K S Chithra has starred in the top 5 songs list of channels!

`Pattinte Palazhi' is the music that soothes your soul, a music that touches your senses and a music that elates you.
