Pattiyal

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Tamil Comments

It's the season of gangsters in Kollywood. Adding to list of movies being made on gangsters is Vishnuvardhan's Pattiyal. Fresh from the success of Arindhum Ariyamalum,Vishnuvardhan is directing Pattiyal, which stars two young guns Arya and Bharath in the lead roles. Giving them company are Pooja and Padmapriya.

A sequence of events in the life of a couple of gangsters is what the film is all about. `I have done my best to keep it simple and appealing to the younger generation. It is in the narration where a director can leave his mark,' he says.

The gangsters are loved for no reason by two young girls in their locality. The rest is their encounters coupled with few troubles encountered by the two (Arya and Bharath)

Yuvanshankar whose tunes in Arindhum Ariyalamum was a crucial factor in the movie's success has yet again come up with foot-tapping numbers in Pattiyal, says Vishnu.

On casting Arya again,Vishnu says, 'he is a bundle of talent and have done my best to project his character in a different light. If the earlier one was his launch pad, this perhaps could be the turning point of his career.' Bharath too has been splendid, he says.

A major portion of the movie has been shot in Chennai. A team of youngsters who are determined to give their best gives me enough courage to give a quality entertainer says Vishnu.

Though the movie is about gangsters, it would not have gory stunt sequences and blood flowing like river on screen. A sensible approach has been made to narrate the story of two friends.

Nirav Shah cranks the camera and his work would come in for appreciation, he says.

The movie is expected to hit the theatres end of February.
