Pawan: Making Fans Happy In Five Ways

As Power Star's die-hard fans celebrate their matinee idol's birthday, they are upbeat that Pawan Kalyan is going to be very active in the coming months. He is going to be active like never before: Doing films, and carrying out political activities.

IndiaGlitz chronicles the five things to have come from Pawan since his last birthday. Here they are:

Not quitting films

Pawan is not quitting films. This is certain. After months of speculation about the superstar giving up acting in 2018, it's official - straight from the horse's mouth - that he will do films.

The stated purpose is that he is broke and wants to make money by acting.

More than a few times, Pawan has said that cinema doesn't interest him much. Way back in 2008 itself, he consciously mooted dedicating himself fully to politics. Months later, Megastar Chiranjeevi's political party would put up a super flop show in the 2009 polls. Disappointed and demotivated, Pawan would take a long, unannounced break from politics for years.

It was not until March 2014 that Pawan held a political meet in public. After endorsing the NDA, he again took a long, unannounced break from politics. The only difference is that, this time he got a shot in the arm when TDP rode to power, thanks in no small measure to his endorsement of the NDA.

Keeping everyone waiting, he finally said days before the release of 'Sardaar Gabbar Singh' that he will quit films any time. Politics, we knew, was to be his calling. Full-time politics, we thought, would be his cup of tea.

Taking many (but not all) by surprise, Pawan said in a recent public meet that he will dabble in both politics and films. If anything, he will do more number of films than he ever had done in the past. Stay tuned, fans of actor Pawan!

Opens up about personal life:

It's not always that he talks about personal life. Urging his opponents and the media to not talk about the divorce with Renu Desai (without taking her name), he said during the launch of Jana Sena Party that the personal space of Renu should be respected.

In the first-ever political speech since the 2014 General Elections, in the capacity of JSP chief, Pawan talked about his willingness to his daughter embracing the Christian faith as per his (new) wife's wish. He said this in the context of speaking about the broad-based Hindu Dharma he was born into.

Political activity on cards:

Now that Pawan has declared that a public meet will be held in Kakinada on Sept 9, the rolling out of a "three-stage approach" is on the anvil.

All political activity, say pundits, is going to be focused on mobilizing public opinion in favour of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Since he has spoken of taking to the streets if SCS is not conferred by the Centre, one can expect him to follow the Kakinada meet with more of such events in the coming months.

There is going to be a good dose of Pawan, complete with taking funny potshots at politicians...

Pays a tribute to Chiranjeevi:

For the first time, Pawan paid a rich tribute to the Mega dancer by re-enacting the iconic 'Veena' step from 'Indra'. The step in 'SGS' came as part of a fun-filled, boisterous climax.

Here is what went into Pawan doing the step. He was keen on paying a grand tribute to his brother in 'SGS'. There was a thorough brainstorming among the director, the hero and others. It was suggested to re-enact the 'Veena' step. But Pawan would suddenly become reluctant to do it. After much requesting by the unit members, he would relent and burst open on the sets.

Bollywood debut:

He finally made a debut in Bollywood this year. 'SGS' was dubbed into Hindi, got released in a good number of screens, and had the backing of a big distribution house going for it.

However, the film would flop miserably. Whatever it is, it has never been Pawan's desire to debut, much less make it big, in Bollwood. When asked if the intention behind releasing the movie in Hindi was an attempt at cozying himself up to the BJP's leadership, he said, "I don't need to do that. Everyone recognizes my face".

As Power Star's die-hard fans celebrate their matinee idol's birthday, they are upbeat that Pawan Kalyan is going to be very active in the coming months. He is going to be active like never before: Doing films, and carrying out political activities.
