It’s a very wonderful and prestigious moment for our Perfectionist of Bollywood of late. After 'Lagaan', 'Rang De Basanti' and 'Taare Zameen Par', Aamir Khan’s recently released production ‘Peepli [Live]’ has been selected for the Oscars in Best Foreign Film category. The decision was made yesterday by Film Federation of India (FFI) committee in Chennai.

‘Peepli [Live]’ had a tie with a Tamil hit movie 'Angaadi Theru' and giving reason for choosing over Aamir’s movie, FFI president L Suresh explained, "This movie was chosen because it depicts the stark reality about farmers in India but deals with it in a light-hearted manner."

Directorial debut of Anusha Rizvi, ‘Peepli [Live]’ is a comic satire on farmer suicides.

Aamir who is currently in London for the premier of 'Peepli Live', is over the moon. Said the actor-producer, "I'm really thrilled that my fourth film is going to the Oscars." Although his earlier three movies were considered as India's official selection for the Academy Awards, only 'Lagaan' was shortlisted. Commenting further Aamir said, "You have to realise there are more than 60 entries in this category and about 600 committee members who select the final five….. What I have taken away from my experience at the Oscars is that ultimately it is the movie that matters."

'Road to Sangam', 'Udaan', 'Rajneeti', 'The Japanese Wife', 'My Name Is Khan' and many other films from several languages were also screened for the selection committee.
