'Dharmadurai', 'Joker' and 'Kabali'- Performance Analysis with facts and figures

Here is the full report on Chennai Box office collections of Tamil films in the post Independence Day weekend between August 19 to August 21. This will give a complete understanding on the Box Office performance of new releases and the films released on previous weeks in Chennai.

As far as Chennai Box Office is concerned, last week's big Tamil release 'Dharmadurai' starring Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannah and Aishwarya Rajesh has got a very good opening despite mixed reviews. The film's opening has exceeded Rupees one crore (Rs.1,14,57,289) in the first three days in Chennai itself. The film directed by Seenu Ramasamy was released in 22 screens across the city and achieved a good 90% occupancy for 289 shows in these three days.

Director Raju Murugan's social satire which had a minimal release on the Independence Day weekend has picked up brilliantly with positive word of mouth pouring in from all corners. In its second weekend in Chennai the film has achieved 85% theatre occupancy which is phenomenal for a non-star film. The film has collected Rs.19,52,360 and the total collection (till August 21) in Chennai stands at Rs.66,17,540.

Actor Srikanth's debut production venture 'Nambiyar' has got a below average opening in Chennai. It has collected approximately Rs.9,28,430 from 60 shows in 12 theatres across Chennai in its first three days.

Vikram Prabhu-Ranya Rao starrer 'Wagah' the cross-border romance that released for the Independence Day weekend has ended up with a below average performance in its second weekend in Chennai Box Office. The film is running in just eight theatres and has collected Rs.4,24,640 in the last three days out of 30 shows.

Superstar Rajinikanth 'Kabali' completed its one month run in Chennai. In the weekend between August 19-21, even after a number of films released in many languages including Tamil. the Pa.Ranjith directorial has been holding on to 11 theatres across Chennai. The film has achieved 80% occupancy and has collected Rs.13,34,210 in its fifth weekend. The total collection of 'Kabali' in Chennai has exceeded Rs.12 crores (Rs.12,17,36,540) and it is already the highest grosser in Chennai.
