PM wishes Bachchan 'speedy recovery'

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Sunday wished "speedy recovery" to superstar Amitabh Bachchan - recuperating in a hospital here after a stomach surgery last week.

In a letter to the star, reportedly sent via Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, Manmohan Singh said: "You are an icon for all Indians and I join millions of countrymen in praying for your good health and speedy recovery."

In the letter, the prime minister hoped Bachchan would "resume normal activities at the earliest".
