DMK working president MK Stalin was arrested at Kaniyur toll gate which is near to Coimbatore airport. Stalin was supposed to join the human chain organized to oppose NEET in Salem, the police had still not given permission for the same.

The desilting of silt at the Kacharayan lake has been a long standing issue between TN`s two major parties – DMK and AIDMK, with Stalin`s visit to the lake planned later on Thursday the tension seemed to escalate ahead of his visit. Stalin was arrested along with 100 DMK cadre who attempted to resist their leader`s arrest.
