The neighboring state Karnataka has the practice of levying additional tax for the films from other languages. This is to ensure smooth business for the local heroes’ films when the films from other states run well.

Just imagine what would happen if the same practice is implemented for an actress in a country. This is what happened to Pooja, who hails from Sri Lanka. Since her Sinhalese films have become super hits, her Tamil films have been dubbed and released in Sinhalese areas. The films went on to become hit movies.

The success of Pooja in Sri Lanka, however, has triggered a back clash. The authorities in Sri Lanka have levied additional tax for the movies featuring actors from other countries.

It is obvious that Pooja has more interest in Tamil films. She clarifies that she acts in Sinhalese films just to fulfill the desire of her grandpa and grandma, who live in Sri Lanka.

Pooja, who is well settled in Tamil Nadu with handful of offers in Tamil, has own houses in Chennai, Bangalore, and Sri Lanka.
