Prashanth after Shock has signed five films in a row. He started out much before the contemporary heroes but he is yet to give a blockbuster hit in his entire career till now. He remains a mystery to the industry. A director like Shankar with Jeans managed to give Prashanth a new lease of life but that too was short lived.

Manirathinam directed him in Thiruda Thiruda which was a flop. Balu Mahendra too directed this young hero but could not deliver a hit. He has worked with the best of talents in the industry. Looks wise and with rugged physique , Prashanth scores over other heroes. His fans in overseas is more than that of any Tamil actor. His films fetch high prices in Malaysia , Singapore and London. Yet why the elusive hit evades him has puzzled Prashanth watchers.

Kannitherey Thondrinal was one of few films in his career, which ran to full houses. The film should be a case study for the actor. The ability of the actor to emote is known to everybody. The audience wishes to see a soft amicable youth who is romantic and yet the suffering kind. A shift to action or overdose of action in a Prashanth film mars it. Yet another film which did well was Parthean Rasithean. The character too was the romantic hero with little action. Jeans reason for success apart from the double role was the romantic base for the film. Prashanth is probably the only hero in Tamil films who has paired with the maximum number of Bollywood heroines.

An out and out action film like Thamizh had Prashanth put in a good performance but it did not jell. A film like Jai, which was an action film, bombed. A romantic film with less of action and in a role, which will endear him to the female audience, will put him back in the pedestal. Virumbugirean should have done the trick but the delay of the film marred its prospects. A film like Shock with Prashanth as hero and Meena having more footage had a decent run because the audience was able to bear it since the actor does not have an action hero image like Vijay.

Currently Prashanth is paired opposite Sneha in Ayudham, a film under the direction of K V Anand with A M Rathinam as producer, Adaikalam a film produced by a Srilankan Tamil as well as Jockey shot fully in London are the other films. Prashanth is to do the remake of the Telugu romantic hit film Neenuannanu . An apt story line, which cashes in on his romantic image, would do the trick.
