After the debacle of 'Ek Deewana Tha', Prateik may well have hoped that he would get 'second time lucky' with the namesake film. However if current developments are any indications, it would take a while before that happens as plans to bring 'Second Time Lucky' on floors have been more or less dropped. With the film finding neither a leading man nor a lady, it's director Shoojit Sircar has fairly and squarely moved on.

"It was in the middle of last year when 'Second Time Lucky' had started catching on heat. Prateik had been signed as a solo lead for 'Ek Deewana Tha' and 'Ishak', his multistarrer 'Aarakshan' was much awaited as well, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'My Friend Pinto' was round the corner as well while Tigmanshu Dhulia had more or less finalised him for 'Milan Talkies'. However the months that followed were quite turbulent for not just the actor but everyone associated with these films. Meanwhile 'Second Time Lucky' faced a few obstacles of it's own, what with flip-flop around Ahana Deol's presence in the film", informs a source.

Final nail in the coffin was Ahana's reluctance to face the camera. As per insiders she wasn't fully convinced about her Bollywood debut and by the time Esha Deol's comeback film 'Tell Me O Khhuda' released and turned out to be a massive disaster, it was time to draw curtains for Deol sisters.

"Shoojit was sure that he didn't want to ponder over a lost project for eternity, as was the case with his dream project 'Shoebite' (starring Amitabh Bachchan) which is yet to see the light of the day despite being completed half a decade back", says a close associate, "He immensely enjoyed making 'Vicky Donor' with Ayushman Khurana. Meanwhile his producer John Abraham has already commissioned him for 'Hamaara Bajaj' as well as 'Jaffna'. With two films in hand which would go on floors later this year, 'Second Time Lucky' has been conveniently put on a backburner."

Meanwhile Shoojit too doesn't sound too worried about the fate of 'Second Time Lucky. He says, "Scripting of the film is not yet finalised and I would be able to talk about it's cast only after the written material is in place. As for Ahana then well, we were just talking to her to understand if she was interested in being launched with 'Second Time Lucky'. When she said she wasn't ready, we moved on." And how about Prateik? "There isn't anything concrete. Presently I am geared up to release 'Vicky Donor' and then I begin 'Hamaara Bajaj' and 'Jaffna'", he says.
