Realism always works. Especially when it is told in endearing terms. For proof see Premiste. This Telugu version of Tamil hit Kadhal is a simple tale of a mechanic falling in love with a school girl.  This every-day story works on screen because of the intelligent treatment and the veneer of realism all through.

Murali (Bharath), a mechanic falls in love with Aishwarya (Sandhya). She is the daughter of wine shop owners. As usual, the two elope and go to a big city. But soon her parents catch them and the duo are separated. But the parents promise to help them get married at a latter stage of their lives. The end is good and very life-like and makes the film work.

Bharath, after his swanky show in Boys, fits the role of a mechanic to a T.  In a pared-down look, he looks every bit the part of a lowly motor man. His acting too shows lot of maturity. Sandhya, the newcomer, is however the star of the show. She is so natural that it is difficult to say that it is her first movie.

In fact, the film abounds with newcomers who are so comfortable in front of the camera. S Dandapani, Krishnamoorthy, the 7-year-old Arun Kumar are all splendid in their simple roles.

Vijay Milton's camera creates the right ambience and mood for the film.

Joshua Sridhar's music is of a high order.

Balaji Sakthivel has got every aspect of the film right. He gets is right because he has told a honest story honestly. All truly good things in life are simple. Watch Premiste, you will agree.
