Priyamani, the National Award winner for best actress (2006) is only the fifth actress to win this prestigious award from the Tamil film Industry.
Her portrayal of the rustic belle in 'Paruthi Veeran' has won admiration for just about everybody who watched it. Karthi too had performed very well and in fact stole more hearts than even Priyamani. Karthi's performance complimented Priyamani's in a big way. But then history has repeated itself.
Karthi's father Sivakumar had rendered an awesome performance in the film 'Sindhu Bairavi', directed by K. Balachander. It was Suhasini, his so-star in that film who went on to win the national award for best actress with a sterling performance.
