There were reports that 'Velayudham' ran into trouble in Bangalore, as a few Kannada organisations staged protests in front of cinema halls screening the Vijay-starrer. However, director 'Jayam' M Raja has denied this, saying that the agitation was against all other language movies.

"A couple of days ago, the foundation day of Karnataka was celebrated and pro-Kannada outfits wanted theatres to stop screening other language movies on that day. So they agitated in front of cinema halls, including the ones where Velayudham is being screened," he explains.

"It is not a protest against Velayudham alone, but an agitation against all other language flicks, that too for only one day," he says and adds: "The film has been making good collections in other States like Kerala and Karnataka, besides setting new records in Tamil Nadu."

Meanwhile, Vijay fans have been celebrating the success of 'Velayudham' with various activities. "This is the kind of the film we expected from the Ilayathalapathy. Fully understanding our aspirations, he has gifted us with a mass movie. We are watching it again and again," they say.
