Raajamanikyam

Thursday, January 1, 1970 • Malayalam Comments

Mammooty is the man of the moment in Malayalam. He is on a very red hot winning streak. All his last few releases have done very well at the box office.

In the event, there is a lot of pressure on Raajamanikyam, his next movie.

It has to do well and also got to buck the law the averages syndrome.

The film will be a different one from what Mammooty did in CBI Diary Kurippu ---4.

If Sethurama Iyer was suave and urbane,Raajamanikyam is at the other end of the spectrum.

Raajamanikyam is coarse and rustic. His other name is Bellyraja, a rich son of the soil.

He is garish and loud in his mannerisms --- wears chunks of gold and has a fetish for sunglasses. Being a cattle dealer, and uneducated to boot, niceties of life don't visit him.

Having taken the difficult route to success in life, he is inclined to believe the bovine creatures rather than the human ones. But he is trusting and expects the same feeling from his group. But that doesn't happen. That is the crux of the film.

Two brothers who fight for their father's property and a flower seller make a difference in Raajamanikyam's life.

The whole emotional story is told with lot fun and humor.

Mammooty has breezed through this role.

Giving him company Manoj K Jayan, Sai Kumar, Cochin Haneefa, Salim Kumar, Suresh Krishna, Padma Priya, Sindhu Menon.

Director Anwar Rashid says he has tried to tell a honest story in a honest manner.

Alex Paul's music has the typical flavor.

Now the film has to show some of it, too.
