The Thalaivar is back. On Wednesday night (10 pm), Superstar Rajinikanth returned to Chennai to receive a rousing reception from thousands of fans, nearly one-and-a-half month after he flew out to Singapore for medical treatment.

Personnel from the Chennai Airport Police Station and neighbouring police stations were deployed in large numbers to regulate the traffic. But they were unable to keep things in control, as the number of fans kept swelling as the deadline neared.

The 61-year-old Superstar who had gone to Singapore for treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital landed at 10 pm. Security personnel escorted him through the VVIP entrance (Gate No 6) where fans and media persons were thronged in large numbers.

As soon as he saw the fans, the matinee idol waved his hands and conveyed his 'vanakkam' to them. Clad in white shirt and blue jeans, Rajini was seen very fresh, enthusiastic and energetic.

Rajinikanth was discharged from the hospital last month but he continued to remain in the island country for periodic check-ups and to get sufficient rest.
