A phenomenally Huge increase in '2.0' budget and number of screens

Generally budgets planned before the start of a film will exceed in most cases as they are just estimates based on predictions. In many cases the expenses have exceeded over the top causing a rift between the producer and director of a film. But for the first time in the history of Indian films the budget of a film has been willingly increased to a large tune by the producers that too as a mark of pride.

Yes. Raju Mahalingam, the Creative Head of Lyca Productions which has been involved in the production of the magic combo Superstar Rajinikanth-Shankar's '2.0' have revealed in an interview that the budget of the film has been increased by around Rs.50 crores to make it on par with Hollywood films.

Yes, the budget of '2.0' which was initially estimated at Rs.350 crores is now touched Rs.400 crores. The cost increase is to enhance the visual effects of the film to make it more appealing as an international product.

The makers recently conducted the first look launch of the film in Mumbai at a whopping cost of Rs.6 crores. They have set aside Rs.100 crores for promotions of the film.

Mahalingam has also revealed that '2.0' the grand sequel to the 2010 blockbuster 'Enthiran' will be released in at least six languages- Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, English, Japanese and Chinese. This count may increase during the release time.

The production house also claims that inquiries to screen the film are coming from South American countries such as Brazil and Argentina which are entirely new markets for Tamil films.

Even in places such as USA, UK, Singapore, Middle East and Malaysia which are traditional markets for Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, '2.0' is expected to get a never before huge number of screens.

In Germany and Austria, '2.0' is touted to be released in around 300 screens Generally Indian films will get around 40-50 screens in these markets.

The film stars Bollywood star Akshay Kumar as the lead antagonist. Adhil Hussain and Sudhanshu Pandey are other prominent cast members. Amy Jackson plays the female lead. Internationally acclaimed music composer A.R.Rahman is working on the music score of this gargantuan project. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer.
