I thank his Excellency, the French ambassador in India, Alexander Ziegler, who intimated me of this honour. This award humbles me rather than stiffen me with pride. I realise my journey in the chosen field has not been alone. Teachers and admirers are abundant around me. With motherly care, they have applauded my every little step forward. The melancholy of my parents not being alive to see this day is allayed by the fact that the elders and young are still around in my family to enjoy it. I dedicate this award to my admirers and audience who give me the tenacity of purpose, to pursue to this day and moment, my arts and letters. Thank you".

The multi-talented actor has been recovering from a surgery on his leg after surviving a slip down from a staircase at his home. He is expected to start shooting for his upcoming trilingual film ‘Sabash Naidu’ from the second week of September.

A Karnataka based advocate has filed a sedition case against popular actress turned politician Divya Spandana aka Ramya for her comments about Pakistan.

Ramya who has been a top heroine in Kannada films has also acted in a few Tamil films. She is famous among Tamil people for her acting in Silambarasan's 'Kuthu' directed by A.Venkatesh, director Vetrimaran's debut film 'Polladhavan' in which she played the love interest of Dhanush and one of the three heroines of Suriya in 'Varanam Aayiram' directed by Gautham Menon.

Refuting Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's comment "going to Pakistan is like going to hell", Ramya, a memer of Indian National Congress party had stated "Pakistan is not hell, People there are just like us."With this remark about Pakistan, the 33 year old actress-politician has drawn flak for allegedly supporting Pakistan and she is being branded ‘anti-national’ by right wing nationalists and BJP supporters in Twitter and other social media platforms. A post card campaign urging Ramya to vacate India and shit to Pakistan has been initiated by a pro-BJP activist in Mysuru.

Now an advocate named K.Vittal Gowda has filed sedition case against Ramya in a Court in Somwarpet of Southern Karnataka. In his petition Gowda has accused Ramya of "insulting India" and "provoking the people of India" by "appreciating Pakistan, which is a traditional enemy of India." He has also urged the Court to book the fomer MP Of Mandya constituency under Sedition charges. The Judge has posted the case for hearing on August 27 (Saturday).

But none of these allegations and accusations have affected the strong willed lady. Ramya has refused to apologize or withdraw her comments as she believes she has done nothing wrong and she is entitled to her views in a Democratic country like India.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay's yet to be titled 60th film is progressing as per the plan, targeting a 2017 Pongal release. The film's shooting is expected to be completed by the first week of October.

However sources reveal that well before the completion of the film directed by Bharathan, its theatrical release rights in Kerala state has been grabbed by a prominent distributor.

It is learnt that a distribution firm IFAR has bagged the Kerala rights of 'Vijay 60' for Rs.6.25 crores. This is reportedly the biggest ever price for a Vijay film in Kerala and also the third biggest after 'Baahubali 2' (Rs.10.5 crores) and Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' (Rs.7.5 crores).

This news is based on the information received from a source and not official. But given Vijay's immense popularity in Kerala, there is no wonder in such a big price being offered for his film.
