As we all know, Mohan Lal’s latest super hit and also one of the highly acclaimed film Drishyam is going to be remade in Tamil. Jeetu Joseph who directed the original Malayalam version will also be handling the Tamil version with Kamal Haasan playing the lead role.

Earlier Jeetu was quoted in media reports saying he wanted Superstar Rajinikanth to act in the Tamil remake. Rajinikanth who watched the film was highly impressed with the film. But a scene in which Mohan Lal was beaten up by a Policeman and the former not hitting back till the end made Rajini not to accept the offer to star in its remake. Rajini felt that such a scene would not go well with his audience and also he did not prefer changing it for his sake. Only then Jeetu showed the film to Rajini’s good friend cum competitor Kamal who accepted to star in the Tamil remake.

Now the Interesting news that has recently emerged about Drishyam is that Mohan Lal himself was not the initial choice for the lead character ‘George Kutty’ in the film. Jeetu Joseph had initially narrated the script to Lal’s senior and equally popular star Mammotty who felt the Mohan Lal will be the perfect choice for the lead role in the film.

With this it can be interpreted that only on Mammotty’s withdrawal and voluntary suggestion Mohan Lal was approached for the role but what has to be noted is the comradire shared by the two stars who are still competitors in Malayalam film industry.
