As we had reported long back, last year's unanimously praised 'Thani Oruvan' will be remade in Telugu with Ram Charan Teja playing the role of the protagonist Mithran IPS played with finesse by Jayam Ravi in Tami.

Now the heroine of the Telugu remake has been confirmed. Rakul Preet Singh who has acted in Tamil films 'Thadayara Thakka' and 'Ennamo Edho' and a some notable Telugu films has been roped in to play the female lead in the film. Nayanthara had played this role in Tamil.

'Thani Oruvan' did not have the regular run of the mill, hero's arm candy heroine character. In stead the female lead of this Mohan Raja directed film is a strong female lead who is a forensic expert and assists the protagonist in crucial times to win over the baddies.

Hence this will be a strong role for Rakul to portray with enormous potential for performance and we can expect Rakul to win her hearts with her acting prowess in this role.

The yet to be titled Telugu version of 'Thani Oruvan' will be directed by Surender Reddy, The shooting will commence in March or April.

Rakul has earlier paired up with Teja in the recent super hit Telugu flick 'Bruce Lee'.
