Ramaiya Vastavaiya Review

What is it all about?

Phir Se Re.. Phir Se Re.. Phir Se Re..(shut up). Anyways.. we don,t know how many times Prabhu dheva's directorial debut `Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana' in Telugu (which in itself was inspired by 1980's Salman Khan's ticket to stardom'Maine Pyaar Kiya') will be remade again. It has already being done five times..

Similarly we also don't know when Bollywood fixation to the tried repeated and trusted Bollywood love sagas will end.

But one thing is certain we cannot remove the `Ma' from our Hindi cinema..no matter how big, better and progressive we go.. similarly over the top love sagas in our cinema will say Mujhe Tumse Pyaar Hai.. Phir Se.. again and again and again..

Ramaiya Vastavaiya adds another chorus to the cheer of over the top love saga which refuses to part ways and is lovingly happy in weaving the same yarn this time with debutant  Girish Kumar and Shruti Hassan but in Prabhudeva Ishtyle.. wanna fall in love.. phir se.. then carry on reading this

The Story..

If you are still hooked and reading this then.. here we go.. the writers Shiraz Ahmed (screenplay and dialogue) and Veeru Potla (story) don,t waste much time for innovations churn a story where Ram (Girish Kumar), the Australia-returned youngster, meets Sona (Shruti Haasan) at his cousin's wedding and falls in love with her. He follows her to her farm, run by her brother (Sonu Sood), who is against this match, since Ram is too affluent for them. He throws a challenge at Ram if he has to win Sona's hand in marriage he has to toil like a aam aadmi forget his chartered plane and milk cows for a agreeable Vow(read yes) from the bhaiya to become his beloved official saiyaa .. and you don,t have to be an Einstein to tell what happens next..

What to look out for

Well if you are still hooked then you must be someone in love..just kidding.. Prabhudeva knows exactly what he is doing in Ramaiya Vastavaiya.. his purpose is to entertain and he does it without much complain.

Kiran Deohans makes the movie look colorful and beautiful. Sachin-Jigar music is a winner 'Jeene Laga Hoon' and 'Jadoo Ki Jhappi' is already topping the charts.

Girish Kumar gets a perfect launch vehicle and he leaves a charming impression.. has the potential to `surf' into the audience heart.. some polishing on acting front will work wonders.

Shruti Haasan is extremely lovable and looks great.

 Sonu Sood as the brother is fantastic.

Prabhu Dheva and Jacqueline Fernandez are entertaining.

The veterans Vinod Khanna, Randhir Kapoor, and Poonam Dhillon do a fair job.

Other supporting cast that includes Govind Namdev, Satish Shah, Zakir Hussain, Nasser, Sarfaraz Khan, Mushtaq Khan and Paresh Ganatra are competent.

What not

Apart from being accused of singing the same old love songs and going nostalgic into the 70's and 80's era... The movie struggles to fight it demons of its length.. it could have being easily cropped for a more better output.

Conclusion: Ramaiya Vastavaiya is not at all ashamed to sing the nostalgic 70's 80's love tune phir se..this time it's the debutant Girish Kumar and Shruti Hassan doing the lip-sync on screen.. but its lovable and melodious.. if simple love story simply and entertainingly told haunts you then grab your beloved's arms and watch Ramaiya Vastaviaya.. and experience the same bollywood love.. on screen..  phir se..
