The best film State Award for the year 2014 has been given to the biopic of mathematics genius Ramanujan` directed by Gnanasekaran. IAS officer turned director Gnanarajasekaran is not new to awards as this is the fourth time he is receiving it after Mogamull`, Bharathi` and Periyar`. This time its even more special as his wife Shakunthala also has been awarded for her costume design.

Ramanujan` portrays the life of the mathematical genius, his theism in spite of being a scientist and collaborating with famed atheist G.H. Hardy. His relationship with his mother and wife and how the society of the early 1900s viewed a rare genius like him. Abhinay Vaddi played Srinivasa Ramanujan while Abbas, Suhasini Maniratnam, Kevin McGowan, Bhama and Michael Lieber costarred.
