As the Muslim holy month of Ramzan starts today in Kerala, the filmi season that followed the big festival of Onam is taking a break for a month. The period of Ramzan with fasting and ifthars is normally looked upon as one of least collections. Not many producers will attempt to make releases during this month in Kerala.

In Malabar area of the state, most of the theatres will either shut down during the day time or will go for their annual maintenance. The films that are on theatres will face a collection drop of at least a forty percent.

And for this year, the major releases will happen only in the last week of Ramzan. Most films are now slated for a release on the 12th and 13th of October. This year Ramzan may prove to be a much better one than Onam as films gearing up for releases are more promising and colorful than the Onam ones.- Mammootty' will have his Nasrani which was earlier planned for this Onam.

Dileep will be happy to find his long pending Calcutta News to theatres while Pyramid Syamira will make their first release in Malayalam with Mohanlal’s Pardesi.

The other films that may steal the season's show will be Suresh Gopi's Black Cat and Pritviraj's Chocolate, which was also planned as Onam releases.

All these films will get a month’s time to prepare best for the box office fight, as all of them have completed their shooting.
