Superstar Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone starrer 'Rana' shooting started at AVM studios in Chennai on Friday in the presence of popular film personalities. Since Rajinikanth fell ill in the shooting and was rushed to hospital for immediate treatment, the movie unit decided to postpone the shooting for a week. He was rushed to Isabella hospital in Chennai. After primary treatment, he was advised a one week rest by the doctors.

K S Ravikumar is directing this film and A R Rahman is composing music for it. This picture is produced by Eros International and also stars Sonu Sood in a significant role. Two leading ladies other than Deepika Padukone are yet to be finalised. Rajni plays triple role in this flick that will be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is expected to release sometime next year.

"Rajinikanth takes every film as his first movie. He was uneasy for the past two three days and the heat of Chennai must have taken a toll on him. He will be fine in a week and we will resume shooting then. Anyway we don't need his dates immediately. His part of the shooting is in London and then in Chennai which will be shot only in June this year" the director K S Ravikumar is believed to have told media.
