Raqeeb
Love stories have been IN ever since the term Bollywood was coined. Add to it a thriller element and it sure makes for one 'masala bhelpuri' which more often than not does taste good.
'Raqeeb' is a similar dish in the offering which comes from the house of Raj Kanwar. He is the same man who has made a career out of 'masala' flicks like 'Deewana', 'Jeet', 'Badal' and many more. Though off late he is seen directing love stories like 'Andaaz' and 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' his passion for making hardcore commercial entertainers still remains. This is the reason why he entrusts the responsibility of directing a film to debutant director Anurag Singh for his home production.
'Raqeeb' could probably be the most twisted film of the current season, what with promise of innumerous twists and turns promised in the plot. With one woman and three men in the picture and story being far away from a conventional love triangle, 'Raqeeb' sets one on a guessing game where unexpected turn of events is the order of the day.
There is seduction, love, betrayal, passion, obsession and crime. And when all of this come together, an intriguing story is born!
'Raqeeb' is about Sofie [Tanushree Dutta] and three men in her life. Who is Sofie? Well, no one really knows. And even if someone does know her, none can say for sure about knowing her real self in and out. A mysterious theater actress, there is something about her that makes one attracted towards her but also be a little unsure.
The men in her life are Sunny [Jimmy Sheirgill], Remo Mathews [Rahul Khanna] and Sidharth [Sharman Joshi].
Sunny - He is someone who is a struggling film actor but still is high on life. For him, life is about living it on and being spirited throughout. A stylish young man who loves to drive bikes and has been trying to make a future for himself, he is in love with Sofie! Sofie loves him too but his financial and social status come in the way of her love and she looks for someone who could get her all - money, name, fame and power!
Remo - He is the man who could give everything that Sofie always wanted. A software czar, he had achieved everything at a young age but lacked only one thing in his life - love of a woman. And it was not something that he could earn himself since he was a shy-n-introverted man who was apprehensive of approaching woman. A chance blind date set by an employee-friend of his resulted in getting him his future wife - Sofie!
Sidharth - He is the man whom Remo trusted most. An extrovert playboy, Sidharth wants his friend Remo to be hooked on with some girl soon. And soon, he finds one - Sofie! But has he made the right choice?
Remo and Sofie meet and soon they find themselves walking the altar. There is a slight hesitation in the beginning though since their parents had died in the same a car accident and as is revealed, Rahul's parents were the ones responsible for the death of Sofie's parents. The issue is sorted out and the two are soon man and wife!
But for how long?
Soon Sunny enters into their lives and Sofie starts feeling the same love for him as she earlier had. An extra marital affair for her begins and soon she finds herself at a point of no return. Together they now wanted to live a life together but there was one stumbling block - Remo!
The only possible solution for them to be with each other was Remo's elimination. And now they gear up to execute this heinous crime!
But there is a lot more than what meets the eye. The crime happens but it is Sunny who suffers most. Reason? Sofie double crosses him and he is pronto found behind the bars!
