She descended on Kollywood, thanks to K Balachander's Ayya.

The movie opposite Sarath Kumar is due for release this Pongal.

Surprisingly, even before her maiden venture could hit the screens, Nayanathara, from the God's Own Country, has made it big here. She has been picked to act opposite Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi.

An elated Nayanathara, who could not resist her happiness on the big leap, says, “I got a call last month from director P Vasu. He informed that the entire crew in Chandramukhi was impressed with her after looking at her photographs which had appeared in a few magazines. He gave the sweet news over phone that I have been selected to act opposite Rajnikanth. My joy knew no bounds then”.

“Within two years of my entry into filmdom, I have made it big. Certainly, I am feeling at the top of the world now”.

Nayanathara made her debut in filmdom with the movie Manasinakkarae opposite Jayaram. Sathyan Andhikad directed the movie.

She says, “the director gave me encouragement and guided me how to go about with my role. All credit should go to him. Following the success of the movie, I got real good offers in Malluwood before I was selected for Ayya directed by Hari.

I am not keen on playing glamorous roles or a conventional heroine, running around trees romancing with the hero. I will choose my character and give my best on screen. Heroine oriented movies are my target, says Nayanathara.
