Vadivelu has jumped into the battle against the remix songs. Recently we reported that Pulavar Pulamai Pithan had come down heavily on remix songs. Now Vadivelu has joined hands with him.

Vadivelu says that the remix experiments kill the sole of the old songs.

Recently we had many remix songs from various music directors, right from ‘Aasai Nooru Vagai’ and ‘En Aasa Maithiliyey’ to the recent ones like ‘Aththa Athorama Variya’, ‘Engayum Eppodhum’, and ‘Ponmagal Vanthaal’. Most of them were big hits among the people.

It is also worth recalling that the one of the first remis songs ‘Thotal Poo Malarum’ done by A R Rahman in the film ‘New’ was appreciated by the legendary M.S. Viswanatha, who was the composer of the original version.

However, if you keenly observe the opinions by Pulamai Piththan and Vadivelu, you could understand their affection over the old classics and their concern to leave them untouched. At the same time, it should also be mentioned that any trend that gets the support of the people is bound to gain currency.

All said and done, no one could deny the fact that remixes have come to stay. The opposition for the trend is also gaining strength. All that one could pray for at this juncture is that, the debate is conducted in a healthy manner and that it brings about more creativity to the music scenario.
