As mentioned in this column last week, there were always doubts around the long run of 'Rockstar' despite the bumper opening it had enjoyed for itself. Reason being that the film wasn't quite accepted universally and word of mouth was largely mixed. This pretty much reflected in the film's stay at the box office too with the collections showing a dip as the weekdays progressed. However with the kind of terrific start that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer had enjoyed, 'Rockstar' was much more than just safe. Eventually, with a 48 crore first week, the film has turned out to be an earning preposition.

The film has done reasonably well in the second weekend too, hence ensuring that celebrations continue for Imtiaz as well as Ranbir. While Imtiaz is now all set to begin work on his next, the person who has benefited most out of the film is Ranbir. He is the only thing about 'Rockstar' which has been left unscathed and one has to credit his bravura act for the same. The kind of maturity he has shown in the complex characterisation of Jordan continues to win him brownie points till date, hence ensuring that the momentum doesn't die down.

'Rockstar' is enjoying an open run of two weeks which means even though 'Desi Boyz' arrives next, one doesn't expect too much dent in collections since the film's run is anyways coming to an end. Expect 'Rockstar' to make good inroads on home video and satellite circuit too as and when it arrives.
