What is it all about?

Err..Grrr... Uff.. Huff.. this is what that come into the viewers mind - what was it all about?.  WTF(where is the film) in this disappointingly cluttered masala circus that cries fouls and demands sorry from Prabhudeva, Eros, Next Generation and all concern who in their generic rush for a money spinner aim an action packed musical drama which initially seems to target the hardcore masala lovers then looks for juvenile support and then turns blind.

Making the entire proceedings an annoying caricature of cliche' bollywood masala adventure.. if it was a spoof - bad we we didn,t get and if it was intended to be potential  action packed blockbuster - even  worse.

The Story

If you are still interested in knowing the story of this chutni less over fried bollywood masala kachori then here it is this gang of tikdampur Sunil Kumar Agrawal, Prabhudheva and Ravi S. Sundaram place a story to fit in the genre's song and dance, drama, action gimmicks and take care that every cliche' demand of the genre is taken care of especially those from south.

So we have this Rajkumar (Shahid Kapoor) a street smart tapori who falls in love with this bubbly gaon ki chori Chanda (Sonakshi) he stalks her, teases her and later the writers force us to believe that he has won her heart but in between the villain Shivraj (Sonu Sood) has an eye for her so the hero and the villain have a fight to finish to win the girl and sing the ga ga girl is mine. How desi pudding was that.

What to look out for

Undeniably the songs, the dance numbers are energetic and superbly done. The enthusiasm, mannerism of Shahid in those moves is so entertaining. Full of expressions, grace, it's amazing to find Shahid successfully making the audience enjoy those dancing moments very much the way he did while doing so. Fantastic.

The point where Prabhudeva joins him is a terrific moment for those who love dancing. Shahid has worked very hard for this and it appears.

Shiraz Ahmed has given some couple of good one liners to Shahid. The songs by Pritam are peppy and Sarree ka faoul, gandi baat, mat mari are already going up the charts. Late Shrihari fits the bill.

What not

Giving Shahid Kapoor something between Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore a role best suited for Salman, Akshay and Ajay clearly indicates that the writers don,t know who they are writing for and the makers don,t know what is getting made. Shahid's rowdy avatar goes against his chocolate boy image. Shahid is good in comedy and dance but in those gravity defying action sequences he is such a misfit. Imagine Sunny Leone doing a sati savitri or a Meera bai - such a waste. This could have being avoided. Shahid comic timings and dance moves could have being used nicely ala Jim Carey way like it was to some extant used in Phata Poster Nikla Hero and made R..Rajkumar a comic caper like any Govinda starrer the audience would have still accepted it.

Prabhudeva in this film seems to have left the proceedings in the hands of his dance directors and action masters. There is no build up to scene, drama, and dance sequence. No character establishments. The love story lacks emotions and due to this the chemistry doesn't get established making the viewer feel immune to whatever pain the boy is taking for the girl or vice versa.

Technically it's nothing to talk about. Sandeep Chowta background is unnecessarily loud.

Sonu Sood is out of focus. Asrani hams so does Vidhyarthi. Sonakshi repeats herself dobaara. Its high time she thinks seriously about herself. She has the talent we have seen in Lootera.

Masala entertainers are always welcome and they are such a relief in this scenario but Prabhudeva who has given us Wanted and Rowdy Rathore somehow in R..Rajkumar sticks to more gimmick than actual movie and disappoints. The director of such great blockbusters shockingly fails to give any convincing heroism to the main protagonist of R..Rajkumar.. who doesn't has any single good virtue in his persona.

Here everybody is bad, against the law.. why should a girl fall for such a thug is unexplained.

Sadly all this gives R..Rajkumar gives the feel of not only an all-too-ordinary movie but an irritating test of patience and tolerance also.

Conclusion: Having all said and done. To sum it up I say ` silent ho kar iss picture ko dekhne jaa.. dekhte hi dekhte tu violent ho jayeiga'.  If you want to give the test go ahead. Else watch the songs at home  and enjoy.
