Rummy, the film starring Vijay sethupathi released last week and acquired mixed reviews. However the trade is not said to be booming even after trimming the length of the film by 15 minutes.

The winning streak of actor Vijay Sethupathi who has delivered 4 consecutive hits after Pizza, is said to meet a halt with his latest film. Speaking about this in a recent interview, the man, who is one of the most sought after heroes in Kollywood said, “one cannot expect same kind of response for all movies”. With that statement expressing his attitude of taking failure to his stride Vijay Sethupathi went on to state that Rummy is still a film close to his heart.

Vijay Sethupathi’s role in the film is the one playing second fiddle to Inigo Prabhakaran, the lead hero of the film. While some have appreciated such an attitude of the former to have acted in such a less prominent role even after gaining star status, a few others have criticised the idea. However Sethupathi has clarified that he accepted the offer to star in Rummy for his friend Inigo Prabhakaran and he knew very well while signing the offer, that he will have lesser screen presence in this film. He has also stated that he committed himself for this project soon after the release of Pizza, so he does not have any regrets.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi’s next film Panniyarum Padminiyum is going to release on February 7, 2014, exactly one week after the release of Rummy.
