Expectations

Crime is a serious issue, but in Bollywood, our filmmakers love to glorify it and present it in an entertaining manner. The films dealing with robberies have been loved by the cinegoes. Most of these films have big names associated with it and at times there are some smaller but relatively powerful actors involved in it.

'Saat Uchakkey' is one such film which boast the involvement of good actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Kay Kay Menon, Anu Kapoor, Anupam Kher and others. Thus, there has been a decent amount of expectation associated with this movie, which is also in news due to the high usage of foul language.

Story

'Saat Uchakkey' is a story of a local antique trader Pappi (Manoj Bajpayee). Despite of going through tough financial times, Pappi still keeps fulfilling the demands of his beloved, Sona (Aditi Sharma). Local police inspector Tejpal (Kay Kay Menon) also loves Sona and expresses his desire to get married to her. Sona puts pressure on Pappi to solve his financial problems. At that time Pappi meets a psychic Bicchi (Annu Kapoor) and gets an idea of invading the palatial house of Deewan (Anupam Kher). Pappi sets up a gang and starts planning the robbery.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The story is repetitive yet interesting. The whole planning and executing part is engaging. Also, the whole set up with various characters is enjoyable. The entire conversations between Manoj Bajpayee and Vijay Raaz are the best scenes of this movie. You will love their arguments and taunts for each other. The cinematography is decent and works well for the film.

Director Sanjeev Sharma comes up with a dark humour which works fantastically in some parts and fails miserably in the others. It’s good to see Manoj Bajpayee in such a light film, after a long time. He does his part with total grace. Vijay Raaz is fantastic in his part. His dialogue delivery is totally natural and enjoyable. Kay Kay Menon looks great and does a decent part. Aditi Sharma is good in her role and carries her part perfectly.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The movie takes lot of time in establishing its right track after which only the story gets on its right course. The movie keeps dragging for unnecessary reasons with insertion of several side tracks.

The whole Anupam Kher track is terrible followed by the highly disappointing climax. Anu Kapoor's track is wasted and dragged to the fullest. The language used in this movie is full of swear words. There are two forced item songs in the movie which ruins the impact of the film.

The story is unnecessarily stretched and the climax is a huge letdown. It's only that the screenplay is not tight enough to sustain the enjoyable moments. After a while there is an overdose of everything in this movie. Annu Kapoor and Anupam Kher are wasted.

Final 'Glitz'

'Saat Uchakkey' has its moment of fun which last for some time. So enjoy the fun featuring these lenient scoundrels till it last.
