'Na main Dilliwala, na mein CBI wala; ek behen ka bhai hoon, ek maa ka beta - Himmatwala!' - This is the line that has kick-started the shoot of 'Himmatwala'.

While filmmaker Sajid Khan proudly introduced the film and this dialogue to netizens who witnessed the film's shoot LIVE on internet, he further promised that the film would have many such moments that would remind audience cinema of yore.

"I always wanted to set 'Himmatwala' in 1983, the year in which the original with Jeetendra and Sridevi was released. If you look at the cinema that was made then, it used to be very filmy with the kind of heroism that was so much over the top.

When you see Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah Bhatia in the film, they would look like a 80s couple. The film has also given me an opportunity to experiment with the 80s styling and clothes", says Sajid whose 'Hey Babyy', 'Housefull' and 'Housefull 2' have all been set in contemporary times.

However now that Sajid is going back to the 80s with 'Himmatwala', he promises that the decade and its setting would have a definite relevance in the narrative which would only accentuate the overall appeal.

"If we look at films that have paid homage to cinema of the past, we have largely experimented with the 70s but not 80s. Even I tried period look with 'Pappa Toh Band Bajaye' [Housefull 2] but that was again set in 60s", says Sajid, "I can't get 80s out of my system though since I have grown up in that decade.

It had that special something to it and it is this very flavour that would spice up 'Himmatwala'. Of course the script has been totally revised because there is no point remaking the film as-is. The village setting and the 80s remain, the situations change."

We would look forward to that and more once the film releases all over on 29th March next year.
