First it was Amala Paul who was considered for the role. Then the plum offer appeared to have landed on the lap of Hansika Motwani. But now it seems Samantha is emerging the front-runner.

We are talking about the heroine of 'Sottavalakutty', the next film of Sargunam, which has Dhanush in the lead role. "Since the movie is getting delayed, Hansika was not able to allot the required dates," sources said.

They added: "Following this, Samantha was approached for the role. She was very much impressed after listening to the script and gave her nod."

'Sottavalakutty' has Dhanush playing a rural youth and the heroine is a dentist. How she falls for the charm of the smart young man is the crux of the story.
