It first inspired Balarkishna, who acted in the Telugu remake of Sami as Lakshmi Narasimha. That was in 2004. After years, Sanjay Dutt, propelled by the currency that South Indian movies are enjoying in Bollywood, has evinced interest in remaking the film. The news is that KS Ravikumar may direct the Hindi remake.

More on it a little later but what is certain is that Sami will see a Hindi version of its own. The movie, which revolves around an upright cop, who schemes a cunning ploy by joining hands with the villain and turning the tables at the ripe time, was a run-away hit in Tamil. Since Sanjay is a middle-aged actor, just like Balakrishna, the subject may not suit him as well.

"Since this is his maiden venture in Hindi, Ravikumar is not ready to take any chance. So he has opted for Saami, which has got all the ingredients to strike a chord in Bollywood. Remember the recent two hits in Hindi are cop stories from Kollywood- Force inspired by Khaakka Khaakka and Singham inspired by Singam", they add.

It is said that a popular south Indian actress will be the heroine. Meanwhile, works are on in a full swing to start the shooting of 'Kochadaiyaan'. "The film will hit the floors post Pongal and the shoot will be completed before the end of March," Ravikumar said recently.
